Born in 1938 in West Sussex I was one of five children. My parents were farmers and my grandparents were agricultural engineers on father’s side and confectioners on my mother’s side (G.F Lovell and company) my paternal grandfather made butter churns by Royal Appointment and invented the cream separator.
I started race riding when I was 17 years of age and retired from the sport when I was 40 and at this stage my main interest was in breeding national hunt foals.
Together, my wife and I have one son and two daughters who all enjoy riding
Having now semi-retired, I only keep one broodmare (a direct descendant to my beloved old mare Clover Bud) and a couple of youngsters to keep her company, and I’ve downsized from the old farm to the smallholding that my wife and I currently own. Hence I’ve taken up my interest and love for dogs and have together with Judith and Emma set up Cloverbud Miniature Schnauzers’ with the aim to show and produce healthy and loving quality dogs with superb temperaments that will suit the pet homes as well as the show enthusiast.
Any spare time that I have, I spend in dealing and collecting small magic effects.
