KC/BVA Eye Test Certificates
All our Minis are tested under the BVA/KC/ISDS Eye Scheme for Congenital Hereditary Cataract on an annual basis.
Any respective litters bred here are all eye tested under the same scheme prior to leaving for their new homes.
Health of the Miniature Schnauzer: The Miniature Schnauzer is generally a very healthy breed. However, one of the problems that the breed can suffer is that of the eyes.
A caring and responsible breeder will not even contemplate breeding from their dog(s) unless both the sire and the dam has been tested and confirmed to be clear of: Hereditary Cataract, Congenital Hereditary Cataract, and generalised Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA).
This has to be done on an annual basis up untill the age of eigth (by a BVA specialist t-he Kennel Club holds a list of approved VET's) as problems sometimes does not occur untill a few years of age. Litters should always be eye tested prior to moving to their new homes and it is very important that you are provided with a copy of the Litter Screening Form to prove that the litter is clear of eye problems when you purchase the puppy.
-Our stock come from parents, granparents and great grandparents who have all tested clear!
REMEMBER: as a buyer of a Mini you should expect to see a copy of the test certificats as well as to be provided with a copy of the litter screening certificate.
